Wearables, Agentic AI, and Living Labs: The Future of Health Innovation
This seminar examines how wearable technology, mobile health platforms, agentic AI, and community-based Living Labs can advance health innovation beyond conventional research settings. It explores how continuous sensing and conversational health agents can provide personalized and context-aware support, while real-world Living Labs can help researchers design and evaluate technologies that are practical, inclusive, and culturally responsive.
Amir M. Rahmani, Ph.D., is Co-Director of the UCI Institute for Future Health and a professor in the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing and the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. His interdisciplinary research spans artificial intelligence for health, wearable and mobile sensing, health informatics, machine learning, and physiological signal analysis.

Prof. Rahmani discussed how continuous sensing and AI-powered conversational health agents can support personalized, data-driven, and context-aware approaches to health.
The presentation also examined Living Labs embedded in real communities, highlighting how researchers can design and evaluate health technologies in everyday environments and develop more inclusive and culturally aware solutions.
