A Workshop on:

Hands-On AI for Psychiatry: From Prediction to Treatment


Abstract:

This hands-on IEEE EMBC 2026 workshop brought together psychiatrists, clinical researchers, and machine learning experts to examine practical and translational applications of artificial intelligence in psychiatric assessment, monitoring, and intervention. Topics included digital phenotyping and multimodal sensing, AI for prediction and treatment support, generative AI and conversational agents, and responsible and trustworthy AI for mental health. As an invited speaker, Prof. Amir M. Rahmani presented “Personalizing Agentic Health Chatbots with Wearable and Mobile Data: From Sensing to Conversation,” highlighting how agentic conversational systems can integrate wearable and mobile data to support personalized, longitudinal mental health care.


About Lecturer:

Amir M. Rahmani is Co-Director of the UCI Institute for Future Health and a Professor in the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing and the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. His research focuses on AI-enabled health systems, wearable and mobile sensing, healthcare informatics, applied machine learning, biosignal processing, and personalized digital health technologies.
