Abstract: Food is central to human survival and well-being. Collating localized food-related data enables the creation of a knowledge base that can be leveraged for personalized food recommendations. We are building a World Food Atlas (WFA) – an open-source platform for different stakeholders in the food ecosystem to contribute data and leverage the database for answering food and health queries. We are individuals collecting food logs, physical activity data, and sleep data and analyzing relationships between them to provide personalized insights. We envision preventative care rather than the current reactionary approaches to lower healthcare costs and an empowered digital health consumer.
